Central - San Luis Obispo Featured ProjectsSan Luis Obispo County's hub of urban activity is intertwined with complex waterways, lush natural areas, and rich farm lands. The Land Conservancy has completed 14 riparian and wetland restoration projects and 11 fish passage improvement projects in this region, and we have also nearly eradicated invasive Arundo from the San Luis Obispo Creek watershed. These restoration projects provide habitat for local wildlife, improve water quality, sustain our local water supply, and protect farm fields and man-made infrastructure. Prefumo Creek Fish PassageEach winter, the San Luis Obispo Creek Watershed plays host to one of natures most spectacular natural events; the annual migration of the steelhead. Filipponi Ecological Area Wetland RestorationThe Filipponi Ecological Area is an 80 acre conservation site purchased by the City of San Luis Obispo in 1999. Middle SLO Creek Bank StabilizationThe Land Conservancy has been working with the Hayashi family for over a decade to improve stream conditions on their property along San Luis Obispo Creek. Invasive Plant Removal, San Luis Obispo CreekArundo donax, a native of the mediteranean region, is a scourge to streams all over California, including the San Luis Obispo area...
