Beverly Gingg

Beverly Gingg grew up on a Paso Robles area cattle ranch and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and a secondary teaching credential at Carroll College in Helena, MT. After teaching junior high science in Boise, ID, she returned to the Central Coast to earn a M.S. degree in biological sciences at Cal Poly. In 1996, she worked with others to establish the Santa Margarita Community Forestry, now a Chapter of the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County, and continues to serve as SMCF coordinator. For more than twenty years, she has been involved in a variety of community service and leadership activities, in Santa Margarita and San Luis Obispo, and has played a key role in the development of many grant-funded projects and programs. In addition to serving on the Land Conservancy’s Board of Trustees since 2002, she is a founding member of San Luis Obispo Access for All, a volunteer group operating through the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation and advocating for people with disabilities. She works for the University of California Cooperative Extension as director of “Learning Among the Oaks,” an outdoor science education program now in its 5th year at Santa Margarita School. She lives in San Luis Obispo with her husband Bryan and tries to save time for gardening, walks with her dogs, and attending Cal Poly sporting events.
