Local People. Local Land. - Local Stories

SLO Creek Volunteers - The Finger Family

The Land Conservancy is a special organization. It's full of real people who enjoy working hard to benefit us all. What a great example for our children-and our whole community.

Cambria Community Preserve - Alese & Bob Bell

Today, we have a gathering spot for both people and wildlife. The deer and wild turkeys enjoy it as much as the passersby. It's so beautiful. It really fills your heart. It wouldn't have happened without the Land Conservancy.

Hidden Springs Farm - Fred & Pat Frank

We worked with the Land Conservancy to protect this property-not just for our family, but also for the community around us. Sure, we could sell our farm and let fate take over. But we've seen the faces of the families who visit. People want to stay connected to the land.

SLO Greenbelt Protection Program - The Morgridges

In early 2010, The Land Conservancy was deeply saddened by the passing of Dean Morgridge, a generous conservation supporter and community member. The story below explains how Dean’s legacy will continue forever in the lush grass, sprawling oaks and wildlife that thrives on the very lands he helped conserve here in San Luis Obispo.

The goal of this project was to expand the City of San Luis Obispo's Greenbelt while working in collaboration with many local agencies and community conservation supporters.

Reservoir Canyon - Janet Andrews

I still can't believe all the Land Conservancy has done for me. Brian helped me navigate the federal regulation channels, negotiated a conservation easement, and secured funding for a large restoration project.

Growing Grounds Farm - Megan Hall

The collaboration between the Land Conservancy and Transitions-Mental Health Association brings something special to clients with sometimes limited opportunities to contribute to their community.
